1. Who We Are
BrightPath Tutoring is an educational services company providing tutor matching and academic support. This policy describes how we handle information submitted through this website.
2. Children and Minor Students
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. All tutor requests for students under 18 must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. Student personal information (name, grade, school) is treated with heightened care and is not used for marketing purposes.
3. FERPA-Adjacent Practices
While BrightPath is a private tutoring company (not a school subject to FERPA), we apply FERPA-consistent practices for student educational records: we do not disclose student records to third parties without parent/guardian consent and we provide access to records on request.
4. Information We Collect
Through our inquiry forms, we collect: contact name, email address, phone number, student grade level, subject and academic needs, session format preferences, and a brief description of learning goals. We do not collect IEPs, 504 plans, school transcripts, or other sensitive educational records through this website.
5. How We Use Your Information
Information is used solely to match students with appropriate tutors and coordinate sessions. We do not sell student or family information to third parties. Tutor candidates receive only the information necessary to prepare for an intro session.
6. Data Retention
Inquiry records are retained for 24 months. Active client records (ongoing sessions) are retained for the duration of the relationship plus 36 months. You may request deletion at any time for inquiry-only records.
7. COPPA Compliance Note
This website does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 directly. All requests for students under 13 must be initiated by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information without parental consent, contact us immediately for removal.
